EDGE OF HUMANITY: Survivor cardbuilder
Its the end of the world as we know it... And I feeel fine (Well not me, but the singer from REM for sure).
I
got to this game by accident, and dont regret it.

There are actually
only two cons I can tell you from my perspective: 1) you get a pretty
big box that is almost empty. Ok, there are life and bullet tokens,
standees with papercraft figures, and a bunch of cards, buts almost
empty when i look into it. I mean, ok, some expansions are planned Im
sure... But Im also sure the price (I got it for 45euro) is just tooo
much for this little content and a game you can finish in 30 minutes.
If you can get over this, youll probably like whats inside and how it worksSo
the game has three micro-scenarions, after you learn all the rules and
play trough them, you mix them to come out with some new stories. Thats
pretty fresh and unusual, and I like the little story snippets about all
end-of-the-world clichés you can think of (dont wanna spoil too much
here).
Actually I think the "storymode" is one of the huge PROS in this little survivors-deckbuilder.
Other
then the written snippets, the story builds up itself trough gameplay:
You have a deck of starting cards and try to gain new and better ones.
You try to build some "haven" for you and your survivors, which can be
recruited from a "market row" like in traditional deckbuilders. Also
buildings and "action cards" (like an adrenaline shot, to gain more
actions on your turn) are in a separate market row. With other players
there is a "bidding" element who will get what - in solo you have 4
piles, two cards each, and pay a cost from your hand from 1-4 depending
on the pile position.
But be quick, each turn one goes away forever! As well as the recruitable survivors...
The
goal of the solo game is to gain 11 winning points as fast as possible,
its a race for surviving after all. Acording to your speed youll be
titled a great survivalist, or a total loser killed by the merciless
brave new world...
I like the idea of two market rows, also the
building of different structures known from apocalyptic movies, and all
the wonderful thematic graphic art. There are some combos that you will
learn during play and I say this is a pretty little game with nice basic
storyline for good thrills.
But the expansion are needed ASAP!
