ZOMBICIDE: GEAR UP (CZ version)
ZOMBICIDE WITHOUT MINIS. DO WE NEED IT?
I went into this game very excited for two reasons: I love zombies AND Tetris. Because yeah, lets be honest - this is tetris with zombies...
You get a nice package for a fair price here. No minis of course, but theyre overrated anyway (ha-ha). If you have nice cards with cool comics style ilustrations, which you can shoot at, you got all ya need!
The genre itself is a flip n write "action" game. Or rather a puzzler, to be exact. Because each zombie card you flip, will have a square-scheme inside. Within those square are "good" and "bad" ones. The green ones give you shields and firepower, while the red ones mean the zombie is gonna hurt your when it arrives in your street for their value.
So its up to you to "shoot" all these red marks.
And to be honest, thats about it! Each one of your four available guns gives different square-formats, just like you know them from tetris. You can rotate them freely and "insert" (write) onto the zombie card until the zombie is finished off. The cards are all pretty good quality and the game comes with some markers with erasers, which is to appreciate.
To makes things a bit more complicated, you can not use any weapon any time. You reveal cards which tell you what weapon is available in the current "round". If youre lucky to kill a zombie, you can get upgrades (twice for each gun). How cool is that!
Then, when you finished off an zombie attack phase, made of severeal weapon/movement reveal cards and zombie spawn cards, you enter the second phase of the game - the boss battle. There is several from them to choose, or you can try to play the game Campaign style, as with rules from players found in the BGG files of the game.
So to wrap it up, this is a nice little puzzler that gives you a kind of satisfaction while checking in those squares and killing zombies. Just simply a good time!
